What do we like?
The reconstruction of this beautiful banking institution, built on the colossal scale characteristic of the 19th century, is representative of the reconstruction methods that combine preserving the façade with renovating the interior.
Once riddled with shrapnel, the façade was restored and shows the countless grafts visible in the stone.
The burnt-out interior was completely rebuilt from 1923 to 1927 by architect François Maille, who fashioned an original dome of glass blocks that throws light onto the counters.
