What do we like?
Before the war, the presence of the cathedral inspired historical and romantic references – as shown by the Maison des Tourelles, constructed in 1898 by architect Léon Margotin, who recovered fragments of a Renaissance building that was being destroyed nearby.
Next door, the house built by his son Marc Margotin in 1927, is inspired in its external appearance by the modern houses of Mallet-Stevens and Le Corbusier, incorporating cubical volumes, strip windows, and flat roofs.
